Nice scent - great "bulk" scent. I splash this on generously sometimes after a shower and shave. It smells nice when it's fresh but mostly goes away after a few minutes. A very "quiet" citrus scent will linger for hours, though, but it's much lower than the lingering scent you'll get from more complex fragrances. (4711 is pretty much just top-note scents.)Overall, nice fragrance for everyday use for guys who don't want to smell like they wear fragrance - no one at the office will ever refer to you as "the guy who wears too much cologne" or "the Sex Panther guy". More observant folks will, however, still think you smell nice.

This is a watered down version of what I used in the 1970-80's. The familiar scent is soon gone, even if you spash it on vigorously. They should call it toilet water, not cologne. I even know some toilet waters that last longer than this does. There could not much scent oil (s) in this or it would definitely last longer. I was very disappointed. I do not like strong scents at all, but even after I put this on it is not strong smelling. After 30 minutes I can barely smell it.

4711 is the original cologne. Invented by monks in Cologne, Germany before the Napoleonic era, the name comes from the street address of their monastery. It is a citrus based cologne. I like its fresh light scent, a perfect summertime fragrance.

I have been using this as an after shower splash for over forty years. First found it in Europe.So pleasant and clean and refreshing- I carry a small plastic bottle of it in my bag.The size of the bottle was twice the size I usually get locally and was the same price.My late husband used it also as an aftershave.

I have used this 4711 for fresh laundered sheets and towels...I use about 2 bottles a year, mostly in the summer. It makes fresh towels and laundry closets smell fresh.

The fragrance is unbelievable. I used this cologne several years ago & loved it, but like many people, tried and used all the new fragrances available. When I found 4711 available again I was happy, & couldn't wait to get my hands on some. It arrived quicker than I expected, & it is my daily fragrance again. I won't run out, & I won't need to play "the perfume field"again. "Ten stats!

Another reviewer estimated its longevity at just 20 minutes. You would have to divide that figure by five to get closer to the truth.It smells fine, but it is no cologne. It's simply four minutes of aroma therapy.
