I am in my late 60's & don't hear as well as I used to, plus, my stove's built-in timer is so soft that it can't be heard from upstairs (& sometimes can't even be heard from the living room when the tv is on loud). I have tried to find a truly loud kitchen timer so that I won't miss hearing it go off & end up boiling the water out of a pot yet one more time :)! I have bought several different timers that claimed to be loud, but, they were only loud enough to hear if you were really listening hard for them, &, then they stopped ringing or buzzing after 45 seconds. When I am absorbed in doing something upstairs, I can easily miss hearing those timers, or actually, I might hear them momentarily & then sort of just forget about them when I'm really absorbed working on the computer upstairs & they stop ringing. This Taylor kitchen-timer is the BEST timer I have found for making sure you hear it. It is loud enough that it is actually obnoxiously loud & deafening if you are near it when the timer goes off, which is excellent for those of us who are becoming a little hard-of-hearing & want to be able to hear it from upstairs. The other extremely nice feature is that the sound does not stop until you physically push the button on it, so there is no way you can ignore it - there's no way you can just it go off & then just go back to what you were doing & forget about it; it keeps on reminding you that you have to tend to it.The digital display is large & easy to read. The only reason that I did not give the rating 5 stars is that I am frequently unable to clear the number of minutes I set it for; it frequently takes me several attempts before I am able to clear the setting. Since I've only had the timer for a few days, I don't know whether I just don't have the hang of doing it correctly (it is a bit tricky - you have to press the button & then rapidly press it again & hold it a few seconds), or whether this one is a lemon that is only responding intermittently to clearing it & that I will need to exchange. The timer doesn't take up much space at all on the stovetop or countertop; it is only 3" in diameter - very compact. (The product description has an incorrect measurement that is larger than the size actually is - I think it says something like 6"). It is round & the timer face is slanted/angled towards you to make it easier to read.I am very happy to have finally found this truly loud kitchen timer, that is at a very decent price.UPDATE - Now that I've had it for about 2 months, I updated the 4 stars to 5 stars. Once I 'learned' how to clear it, I had no issues with it. I love this alarm - I don' t know how I lived without it - I never have to worry about not hearing it!

i was trying to find a silent timer that was small enough to keep at my desk and take on breaks that would fit in a pocket. while this is not huge, it is bigger than i'd like it to be. i also am wishing it had a memory or time set feature so that if i want it to keep the time i set on it, currently if i want it to keep my previously set time, i have to start the timer and let t run out completely and when i stop it it'll come back. otherwise you have to clear it, set it again, or try to add to it using the minute a seconds buttons.that aside, and honestly those are tiny issues and i'm just experiencing a massive first world problem, the timer is great, nice easy to read display, actually can be turned off to save battery, switches for sound vibration and even light. it's well built and works great.

Now this timer is fantastic, just what I was looking for. Months ago, my old timer got broken, and I have been searching everywhere for one that will do exactly what my old timer did. I bought and returned timers from everywhere I could think of, even here at Amazon. Finally came across this one on another website, but I searched for it at Amazon, they had a better price and so I bought it. So glad I did. First of all, and most importantly for me, the actual buzzer when it goes off is excellent. I wanted a timer with a buzzer loud enough to be heard from other rooms in my home, since I am usually in a different room when I place something in my oven., and this one is extremely loud. My husband heard it from outside, he was out on our deck at the time. Second most important to me was it does not stop beeping until you physically turn it off, not like the others ones that stop after one minute. So if you want a really loud, constant timer that does the job, I say try this one. The only down side is it has no magnates to stick it onto my refrigerator, but I can deal with it, on my counter. I have a marked plate I place it on so no one in the family touches it but me. This timer saved me from burning dinner, and I can do other chores as dinner is cooking. So happy with this one.

I like that it is REALLY LOUD and KEEPS beeping until you stop it. For me that was the main reason for buying it. My oven beeps 4-5 times, not very loudly, then stops. This timer is great , does not let you forget to turn off the oven etc.Just a little problem with re-setting it to zero. Some of the time I have trouble re-setting it to zero after I've timed something. It re- sets for the same time, of course you have to push the center button to re-start it. . Once I used it late evening, my cookies needed another 5 minutes, I accidentally set it for 5 hours. I watched the cookies, took them out, but I could not turn it back to zero. Luckily I've found the directions on line under Tyler timers or it would have awakened me in the middle of the night ;)

The design of this alarm is fantastic in all ways except that the alarm (both beeper and vibrator) are far too weak. This design is actually a knockoff of a design thats been around for many years under different brands. Currently your best bet is to buy the General Tools 3-in-1 Kitchen Timer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TOJG7Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not always nearby to hear my oven/stove timer, so I clip this on my waistband as a reminder. It's quick and easy to use. My only wish is that it was thinner and maybe a bit smaller. I also use the flip out stand to set it on my desk. The clip/stand/magnet apparatus is well made and sturdy. The buttons are well placed, responsive. Overall, a simple operation with each button doing one thing. Also like the tiny switches on back to select options such as ring or vibrate, and an on/off switch to save the battery between uses. Big easy to read screen. nice value from a reputable maker.

I recently bought one of these Taylor 5873 timers, found that it is totally inaudible - the tone pitch is so high (4,000 Hz) that it is like a dog whistle, only women, kids and dogs can hear it. The Thermoworks model has a deeper 2,000 Hz tone, much better for older folks. So skip this one, look for timers with lower pitched alarms, even if they are not as loud.

The "Super Loud (95db) Digital Timer" looks like it will be a nice one and it arrives quickly but there are no Instructions. The package says "Full INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY INFORMATION ENCLOSED" but there are no instructions in the inside of the package. My Question is: How do I reset this timer? It is an easy one to set with hours and minutes but there is no way to reset it if you make a mistake.I have gone through many possibilities such as Pausing and then pushing the hour & minute button at the Same time.... nothing works. Can someone tell me how to reset this timer??

I use it to time unguided group meditation, it has big digits and the option for a silent blinking light alarm.Make sure to tape the silent switch in place or check before you use it - one time I left it loose in my purse and something flipped the switch off of silent. Oops!
